Oct 14, 2014, Brussels/Prague: Today Microsoft announced that Jan Mühlfeit, Chairman Europe, Microsoft Corporation, has decided to leave the company effectively December 31, 2014.
Jean Philippe Courtois, President Microsoft International said: “I want to take the opportunity to thank Jan for his dedication and loyalty to this company over more than 21 years. The depth and breadth of his service to Microsoft is evident in the many roles he has held over the past two decades – from his early days in the company’s Czech and Slovak operations, to his leadership in Eastern Europe, where his region was recognized for fast growth for four consecutive years, and especially his work as co-architect of our global emerging markets strategy. In addition, his leadership of the Public Sector team in Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as his most recent role as Chairman Europe, have helped shape our presence in these critical regions and build the critical relationships across both the public to the private sector that have driven our business forward.”
Jan Mühlfeit has played a critical role in helping to improve Microsoft’s relationship with European institutions, and it is, in no small part, thanks to his work that the company now holds a reputation as a trusted and valuable partner to Europe, which contributes to enabling long-term growth, local economic competitiveness, as well as job creation and innovation.
“I would like to thank Jan for his relentless support of youth and education, and his commitment to helping young people discover and develop their potential,” Courtois added.
Jan Mühlfeit commented on his decision: “All my life I have been a strong believer that technology can bring positive changes into human society. I was fortunate to work for more than 21 years with fantastic people in Microsoft, but also with our great customers and partners from whom I learned a lot. I believe that after all of those years of being an active player in the global economy, it is time to move to the role of advisor, coach, mentor and board member. Moving on I will work closely with Atlantic Bridge equity fund in the field of startups. In my advisory capacity I will continue to cooperate with global organizations such as WEF, EC, OECD, INSEAD, and Gallup in the field of personal development, education, startups, entrepreneurship and competitiveness. In addition to that, I will have my own coaching and mentoring business to help people, organizations and countries around the world to unlock their human potential. I would like to thank Microsoft for my great 21 years and wish the company all the best in the future.”

John Ainley, current Meyler Campbell Business Coach participant, shares his thoughts research that suggests CEOs feel isolated and unsupported. Results of research by The Leaders’ Coach suggests that CEOs are becoming increasingly isolated with potentially serious consequences for their businesses. John provides four possible reasons for such isolation including the changing role of the company Chairman; the pressure to provide results quickly and the increased frequency of reporting; the impact of social media making the CEO available to clients, customers and employees 24/7; and finally, perhaps most controversially, that many of today’s CEOs are less ‘people focused’ than in the past.
